Adding Days to your Stay:
St. Tropez
Visit the old town and the world famous Pampelone beaches. Bridget Bardot made it famous and started the wave of tourism after she and the director mistook a family’s set of three houses for a restaurant and convinced them to cook for the film crew. From there, the world-famous Le Club 55 was born and other beach clubs have now turned the area from rustic to chic. Le Club 55 still maintains its laid-back vibe despite having a history of hosting celebs and yacht owners. In nearby Sainte Maxime, which is across the bay by ferry from St. Tropez and is a wonderful place to stay, especially with children, is another favorite beach club. Just east of old town Sainte Maxime by car is Prao. Drive there and see Charlie or Mateo at the beach-club check-in to make a reservation if you do not make one in advance. The food is as divine as the water.
Provence
Not having been to Provence before, Jennifer stayed two nights in Aix-en-Provence this past July. Provence is known for its lavender fields and Luberon villages. See Roman ruins in Arles and tour the cathedral in Aix that has not only Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles, but also remnants of Roman ruins. St. Remy, Avignon, and the Verdon Gorge are other popular places to visit.
Alpes-Maritimes
The Cote d’Azure is in the Alpes-Martimes region and yes, you got it, there are moutains and hills. Severl national parks are just to the north of our wedding site and could be a place you explore on your own either before or after the wedding festivities. If you want to “go big or go home,” head five hours north to Mont Blanc massif in Chamonix.
Italy
The sweet little villages of Cinque Terre are just 3.5 hours drive away (get ready for some hairpin turns when you get there!). Milan and Lake Como are just 4.5 hours drive away heading northeast, and Florence is just five hours away heading southeast and just past Pisa. The islands of Corsica and Sardinia are short flights away from Nice and offer another whole area to explore.
